Grüningen's Botanical Garden

Depening on the season, discover colourful tulips, lush rhododendrons and bright roses or subtropical plants and succulents in the architectonically unique, award-winning show house.
Wonders of nature
On a hill left over from the last ice age as a remnant of the Linth glacier, a well-tended garden has thrived for over 60 years. We offer free admission and parking as well as charging stations for e-bikes and mostly wheelchair accessible paths.
Free guided tour and an attractive range of classes
Join one of the free themed tours of our 17,000m2 garden on the first Sunday of every month at 11 a.m. Full moon meditation, forest bathing and a literature event are part of the attractive programme at the botanical garden as well as macro photography and Ikebana classes. Customers of the Zürcher Kantonalbank receive a 20% discount on selected classes. A list of the events can be found here.
Interactive tours for elementary schools from the Canton of Zurich at the garden: work books, classrooms and ZVV tickets are provided free of charge.

Currently: carnivorous plants
Carnivores typically grow on nutrient-poor soil and attract bugs as a nutritional supplement. Learn more about carnivorous plants in a small exhibit in the show house or during the theme tour on 7 May.

Public barbecue areas
Two barbecue areas available during opening hours, one of which is covered. Please bring your own food and drinks and enjoy a nice picnic. We are happy to provide fire wood. We kindly ask that you avoid unnecessary noise and leave the barbecue area including the tables and benches clean and tidy.
